Kaye Henderson is Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 38 years of nursing experience.
While completing her post graduate work, Kaye was recruited to do per diem work as an RN for Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County. Then, in 2005, she was offered and accepted the position as the first Director for the newly constructed Gordon Hospice House; where she performed a dual role by also serving as the Nurse Practitioner. While working with Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, Kaye became certified as one of only twelve Nurse Practitioners in NC in the area of Hospice and Palliative Care.
In addition to being certified as an Emergency Nurse, Kaye has held numerous certifications at the instructor level including those for Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Traume Life Support, Mobile Intensive Care Nurse, and End of Life Nursing Education.
Kaye is a member of various professional groups including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the NC Nurses' Association, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, and Iredell Regional Nurse Practitioners. She has held various leadership positions in several of these organizations. Kaye has also done volunteer work as a Guardian Ad Litem, with Remote Area Medical Team, and has served on several occasions as Nurse of the Day for the NC Legislature.
Kaye was honored in 1994 as one of the "Great 100" nurses in NC, and was the first recipient of the Claude E. Raiford Humanitarian Award at Mitchell Community College. She was chosen as one of only thirty nursing faculty from across the country to participate in the Genetics Institute sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Human Genome Project. Kaye also served several times on accredidation teams for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Received her BS in Nursing from Lenoir Rhyne University, Hickory, NC, completed her Master's of Science Degree in Nursing Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1975, and became Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in August of 2004.
